Dr.'s Remedy

Dr.'s Remedy sent me some polishes for review.

They're all pink for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. Good cause and some good polishes.

Each is shown at three coats.

I like them all, though Nude Pink is definitely my favorite. It has this secret red shimmer that's just gorgeous on.

Del Sol polish!

For you today I have some pretty interesting polishes. And I don't mean interesting with that long, drawn out breath that is actually a polite way to say "weird". I mean genuinely curious polishes. They change color under UV rays, aka, the sun.
And, for the most part, it's a dramatic change. You'll notice, I promise.

First up, Ruby Slipper. Shown in the sun and in the shade. This polish is easily my favorite of the bunch. Every company seems to have the "Ruby Pumps" polish. A polish with a red jelly base and glitter, and they're all the same. For the most part, I avoid purchasing any more of the dozens of re-incarnations of Dorothy's slippers because, frankly, once you've seen one, you've seen them all. Well, not this time. This polish is a demure little silver glitter. Pretty and almost elegant, and not too eyecatching. I adore this, and, funnily enough, my mother does to. She has me give her pedicures, something neutral and natural, and one day I slipped this into the routine. She was really, really not appreciative until a few days later, when she asked me to patch it up. And then, a week later, she had me re-do her toes in a blood red. This polish single-handedly converted her! A must buy, I think. Different than anything you own. 3 coats.




Peek a Boo is quite a shy one. It appears in the bottle as a clear with a tinge of yellow. On the nail it shows (eek) all the imperfections and discolorations that come with daily polishing. A polish you could wear to work. And then, take it into the sun, and BAM! Red! A jelly red, too. I'm not a fan of the indoor color (and I REALLY need to buff my nails out. They look awful) but the outdoor color is really special. My second favorite. 2 coats (should've done three).




Foxy's a pretty pink. A color that's a tad generic, not something that'd get compliments as it's just a shade that I think we've seen a hundred times. But it's a pretty pink, and, if you don't have one in your collection, it's worth a look. And, oh yeah, it changes to a gorgeous red-purple in the sun! The color change is MUCH more subtle than the first two, but it's there and it's pretty. 3 coats.




The only one that wasn't complete love from me was this, the last, Electrick. Frosty blue. Streaky with brushstrokes. The indoor shade is BLEGH and the outdoor isn't any better, a pale lime that's not saturated enough to show the change in color as much as I'd like. I wore this to camp and the kids ADORED it. While I'm not a fan, the color change is visible and very, very entertaining to six year olds. 3 coats.




Things you gotta know:
-These polishes aren't cheap, but they're something you don't see a lot. Maybe the color change is a gimmick, but it's undeniably fun.
-Your topcoat likely has a UV protector in it. Don't apply it over these, if you do, you won't see any change in the sun.
-If you don't buy Ruby Slipper, you're clinically insane.

I think there's just something with me and floral nails. Like, right now my nails have daffodils on them (pics later). These are just so dainty and pretty.

Some Saturday Spam

I MISSED MY TWO YEAR BLOG-ANNIVERSARY! I'm actually pretty upset, it happened in the beginning of May. It totally slipped my mind, and by the time I remembered, it was too late! Oh well, there's always next year....
Two years, though. That's a long time. That's a really long time. Two years and several hundred bottles of polish later, where am I? In high school. With a blog that almost has 410 followers. And over 71 THOUSAND hits. And two dogs.
So, a lot has changed.

Now, look at my nails. They're pretty.

A watermarble with SH Mint Sorbet, Mellow Yellow, Lacey Lilac, and Wet Cement. WnW Tickled Pink. Lots of bubbles, I'm a bit out of practice.


ChG Ick-a-body. Lots of compliments, weird, as it is a Halloween color. Which I wore in May. Fail?


Lippmann My Romance. My perfect barely there shade. Boring, yes, but so elegant. After watching the Shopping Channel last night (I'm sick. Bad TV's excusable) I was lusting after the lady-like perfection of a light pink. This isn't opaque enough, but it would be if I added another two coats (I'm at two in the pic). It's darker than my inspiration, which means I need to find a lighter version. Still, I love it.


Color Club Tru Passion (the purple) and Sexy Siren (the blue). My scarf is creeping into the shot. Lovely polishes.

I don't love it.
The base is a random Japanese polish. I used WnW French White Creme, Blazed, and Tickled Pink with some CC pink (the light one from the french collection, my bottle isn't labeled). I used a dotting tool

Chanel.

Chanel Pearl Drop.
STUNNING. This is the BEST 'professional' polish I own. We have competition on Tuesday and need to be dressed nicely, tomorrow's a dress rehearsal and I need to get this approved, so I'm wearing it. I really hope it brings me lots of luck!
This is three coats of OPI Time-Less is More with one coat of Pearl Drop on top. Icky application is my fault, I was rushing. The large gap on my middle finger is bothersome.

A few quick notes:

Firstly, you may have noticed my REALLY long blog roll, complete with pictures. I use this instead of following blogs to keep track of blogs I like reading. If you blog isn't on there, let me know! I do try to limit my blog roll to blogs I actually really like. There are some qualifications that aren't super important, I like nails that I like, not too long, not bitten down past the quick. It's not that I won't follow you if you're not a recovering nail biter, but seeing nice nails that are (relatively, I know it's challenging) nicely manicured makes me happy. Also, I'd prefer blogs to feature polishes I can get, otherwise I lemm and lemm and just end up heart broken. And, lastly, the blogs have to be updated at least once every month. Otherwise they are taking up valuable space on my blog roll! Exceptions for this would be if the blogger is going through a hard time or on vacation and the absence is not normal for them.
Basically, I like seeing pretty polish on pretty nails pretty frequently. If you have nails that you polish and then blog about, let me know and I'll add you to the blog roll!

Next, I have 308 followers. This is amazing/fantastic/unbelievable. Now, where are you all? I have over 300 followers that visit my blog (I have a counter ^-^) and I get one, maybe two comments a post? I know bloggers that have fewer followers but loads more comments. It just makes me feel like I'm talking to myself, you know? I know there are some stand-out posts (Galaxy Nails) that garner attention, but it'd be nice to see a little love even when I don't spend an hour on my nails. I don't think I'll be doing a giveaway soon because of this, I think most of my followers followed just for the chance of free stuff (shame, shame) and now don't read my blog anymore. I don't want more followers just out to earn stuff, so I don't think a giveaway will be coming in the near future.

Lastly, I'm sorry for this rant. I know y'all are here to see polish, not listen to me list why I'm a bit upset. So, polish!
$OPI Bare to Be Different. Because I like sheers.

Mrs. Claus

I bought the ChG Merry Mint set from Sally's, it had Naughty and Nice, Mrs. Claus, and that yummy peppermint cuticle oil.
This is a VERY pink-red. Not pink pink, exactly, but more like an unsaturated red. Did that make sense? No? Oh well. It has pinkish glitter in it and goes on very sheer. I did two coats here, shoulda done three.
How do you all like that new extra zoomy thing I'm doing? It takes a few minutes extra but I think it really showcases the polish.

So sweet it gives me a toothache.

This is Essence Sweet as Candy (I thought the title was clever XD), aka the most perfect sheer pink ever. Three coats here and it was a little too pale, I'll do two next time unless I'm wearing it on its own. The cool thing about this color is that it builds up, it doesn't just look like a clear. So, this is my official french mani/demure downtime polish. The fact that it was $1 doesn't hurt its case either....

I'm begging you, enlarge the pics. Really, do it so you can fully comprehend the amazingness.
It's Lippmann Across the Universe. It's my most expensive polish, clocking it at a respectable $18. I bought it today (which is why this is my first time wearing it). I love this, seriously, this is my new favorite polish ever. It's a navy jelly with green and blue hexagonal glitter as well as some smaller blue glitter. It takes three coats to get opaque, and the glitter that is in the lower layers looks all murky and pretty :). It doesn't look chunky but due to the necessity of positioning the glitter at least a little bit, application can be tricky. I predict this polish is going to become very rare, very fast. If you think you like it, buy it. Really, it's just that pretty.

This jelly is amazing.

I love this. I knew I would, I mean, it's a murky grey-blue jelly with blue-green glitter. It's unexpected and looks stunning in the bottle, so I knew I'd love it on the nail. The first coat showed nothing. Literally, all I saw was a bit of glitter and maybe (this is stretching it) a bluish tinge. Second coat? Nothing. I put six (I think, it's had to remember) coats on. Six. BUT, that doesn't even dampen my love for this polish. I'd say, buy it and apply thin and even coats, otherwise it'd be all thick and goopy. It dries really fast, so drying time, even with six coats, was only a few minutes. I love this polish, it looks like the ocean, it looks like the sky at that time of night where it's not quite dark but there are a sprinkling of stars. I love this polish so much I may have to run back to the boutique and buy it for my give-away. We'll see. And, you are going to want to enlarge the photos just so you can further bask in this amazing polish.

And This Little Piggy

This is super pretty in the bottle, a sheer dark pink with gold and blue micro glitter, I mean, blue micro glitter, come on! But, on the nail it doesn't quite deliver. I layered this over an opaque nude just because I knew VNL was otherwise inevitable (plus I already had the nude on, bonus!). Yeah, it's pretty but it's not what I wanted :(. I think I will try it over black next, that would look nice. And, I don't say this often, but enlarge the pics, you have to see it super close up, so pretty! (OPI And This Little Piggy)

Through the gates of hell

It looks like a gate, see? No, you don't see? That's too bad, I think it looks like a gate. This is my french manicure (Essie Mademoiselle with WnW French White Creme). Stamped with plate m57 and WnW black. Love.

This is my franken. The NB on MUA was coming up with Shakespeare names for polishes, this is Lady Macbeth. This turned out... AWESOME! It's a jelly the color of dried blood, a little darker than I imagined but I like it better this way. I used a random red creme (it leans a bit pink/blue) with WnW black and Nailene clear. I figured as long as I was sending in the polish for the exchange, I might as well franken with it and I am glad I did! I may go on to make a Shakespeare collection, who knows!

I really like flakies

Can we pretend this less blue? Okay? Thanks. It's RBL Mismas with Nfu Oh 51 layered over with SH Hidden Treasure over that. Really pretty! 51's red shimmer is visible under all those flashing flakies. If you have the polishes, try it, you won't be disappointed.
